Shannon, Ireland – Mincon Group plc is proud to announce the launch of the MP75-MC, the second new addition to its next-generation MP-series range of DTH hammers for 2025.

Designed around Mincon’s high-performance MP-series internal architecture, and paired with the proven MC shank design, the MP75-MC offers a best-in-class combination of penetration speed, durability, and efficiency. This 7-inch-class DTH hammer delivers performance to drill hole diameters typically reserved for 8” hammers, while operating using the 6” hammer air packages fitted to modern mobile drill rigs – making it ideal for sites where air availability or rig configuration limits the use of larger tooling.

Built For Modern Drilling Needs

The MP75-MC has been developed in response to a growing trend across the mining industry: the move toward compact, more agile mobile drill rigs. These rigs are commonly designed to operate with 6-inch tooling packages but are increasingly being tasked with drilling larger diameter holes for production blasting – while retaining their existing, moderate air packages.

With the MP75-MC, drillers can now achieve hole sizes up to 229 mm (9”) with ease, without the need for larger rigs or higher-capacity compressors The MP75-MC is particularly well-suited for mining operations drilling 8” (203 mm) blast holes, where drillers have historically relied on:

  • 6” hammers with oversized bits, or
  • 8” hammers requiring high-volume air supply

The MP75-MC bridges this gap, offering a purpose-built 7” solution that balances power and air efficiency, while eliminating the risks of using mismatched drill bit and hammer combinations.

Real-world Performance

In field testing, the MP75-MC has consistently demonstrated:

  • Higher penetration rates than comparable hammers
  • Longer service life, thanks to Mincon’s unique MP-series design
  • Lower cost per metre, compared to both 6” and 8” hammers used in similar applications

One of the cornerstones of these performance gains is the superior piston-to-bit mass ratio and the inherent energy transfer efficiency of the MC shank deliver fast, clean drilling – with less air, fewer consumables, and reduced total drilling costs.

Versatile Across Applications

Beyond mining, the MP75-MC is also a smart solution for water-well drilling, especially where many drillers currently use 8” hammers for driving casing systems to collar holes. It offers a cost-effective alternative with the power to drive 203 mm casing systems quickly and reliably.Drilling in Overburden? Use the Right Casing Advance System

Joe Purcell, CEO, Mincon Group, said:

“The MP75-MC is another great example of how Mincon applies customer feedback and engineering expertise to deliver solutions that help drillers to be more profitable. Packed with Mincon innovations, our engineering team has delivered a high-powered, efficient tool that meets real-world needs, whether that’s in mining production or large-diameter well drilling.”

The MP75-MC is available now through Mincon’s global sales and distribution network. For full technical specifications and product information, visit: mincon.com/category-services/dth-hammers

MP75-MC FAQs

What makes the MP75-MC different from other DTH hammers on the market?
The MP75-MC combines 7” hammer power with 6” air package compatibility, offering faster penetration rates, longer service life, and lower drilling costs especially when compared to traditional 6” or 8” hammer setups.
What drilling applications is the MP75-MC best suited for?
It’s ideal for mining production drilling and water-well applications, particularly where 8” blast holes or casing systems are needed but equipment is limited to 6” air packages.
How does the MP75-MC reduce operational costs for drillers?
Thanks to its efficient energy transfer, superior piston-to-bit mass ratio, and durable design, the MP75-MC delivers lower cost per meter by using less air and fewer consumables.
Can the MP75-MC be used on existing rigs configured for 6” tooling?
Yes, the MP75-MC is specifically designed to operate with the 6” air packages found on modern mobile drill rigs, eliminating the need for higher-capacity compressors or larger rigs.
What hole diameters can be achieved with the MP75-MC?
The MP75-MC can comfortably drill hole diameters up to 229 mm (9”), making it an excellent choice for operations that previously required oversized bits or 8” hammers.
